Our client, a key player in the renewable energy sector, operates across over 35 countries. They
specialize in the development, marketing, installation, and financing of solar energy solutions, aimed
at improving the quality of life for the 1.8 billion individuals globally who face challenges accessing or
affording conventional electrical grid connections.
Currently, they seek to appoint a Finance Controller (West and Central Africa).
The Ideal candidate will be responsible for:
- Ensuring accurate month-close/quarter-close and year-close. processes and manages all
financial reporting done by the team. - Ensure closure of all statutory and tax audits and external and internal audits
- Finalization of the financial statements and ensure review of the financial statements.
- Discuss all audit partner queries and close all issues raised by the auditors.
- Review the country wise balance sheets & ensure all assets and liabilities are stated
accurately - Ensure all accounting done is in accordance with Local GAAP and US GAAP
- Through the team, Manage all direct and indirect tax filings, reporting, and all of its underlying processes.
- Assist in all Transfer pricing assessments, filings, reporting, and processes.
- Assist in liaising with the Service provider to get the Transfer pricing study completed on a yearly basis.
- Prepare the necessary Tax reporting package on a quarterly basis for the provision of all the status updates to the Global finance team.
- Ensure that the correct withholding tax rate has been used for deducting the tax for all the required heads and that all relevant items have been included for a withholding tax deduction.
- Ensure all remittances are done on time for all statutory payments on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
- Maintenance of the monthly Compliance Dashboard and ensure regular updates.
- Drive visibility into variable cost accounting, variable cost productivity, project margins, and other key financial metrics.
- Ensure regular ledger scrutiny and vendor reconciliations
- Along with Global Finance HQ, develop intelligent reports to study and highlight trends in
operating costs, inventory valuation, Revenue, FX rate impacts on cost and profitability, etc.
Requirements:
- Chartered Accountant/ CPA or Equivalent
- 10 years of relevant hands-on work experience in Controllership, accounting or taxation practices; with at least 3 years in managing West and Central Africa Markets.
- Relevant work experience with Big 4 audit firms or MNCs.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives, and drive positive change.
- Clear thinking/problem solving, able to take charge of projects/process improvement within operations/finance function.
- Able to break down complex issues into simpler steps and resolve them.
- Knowledge of French will be an added advantage
- Excellent presentation skills and strong executive presence
- Ability to manage and guide a large team, prioritize & promote teamwork
- Willing to participate and engage in operations in addition to finance.
- Excellent grasp of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
- Should be flexible, and willing to stretch and achieve over and above base expectations.
